Five years of "trawler curious" is over

I have been lurking and questing here for a little over five years. After lots of looking, learning, and one near miss (thankful for that) we have ended up with a trawler "style" boat. I am a long time sailboat owner/operator and my wife is a non-boater (you see where this is headed). The "new" boat is a 1980 Gulfstar 44 MC with lots of potential and plenty of project to go around. Ironically, back when the keel was laid (mold prepped) for my new boat I was a 3-4 miles away taking sailing and celestial navigation courses. I will continue to race and teach sailing at the local YC but we now look forward to sharing a life on the water.

Welcome and congrats on the new boat! As a long-time lurker you should know to post pics as soon as possible.

Whereabouts in E Central Florida? Where's the boat kept?

Hailing port will be Palm Bay, FL. We haven't chosen a marina in the area yet.

Nice boat. We would have bought one 2 years ago, but our boatyard could not haul over 30000 pounds.
