A good friend of mine, who lives in the USA but is Norwegian, recently purchased a 1961 Romsdal 66 foot trawler made in Norway. She needs some work doing to the wooden hull, but she is afloat and the engine works! This boat is an evolution from the same type of Norwegian fishing boats that also supplied the outer islands of Norway where my friend was born and grew up. He remembers them delivering mail, taking young people to the mainland to go to school, and also bringing the mid-wife when his sister was pregnant! They were also proudly called the 'Shetland Bus' during WW2, delivering operatives to Norway and bringing refugees and wanted Norwegians back to safety in the Shetlands.

I hope to bring you updates (and pictures) as the repairs and experience unfold.

My friend is an ABS surveyor and ex Merchant Marine Chief Engineer, and I am a retired Electrical & Electronics officer, so we should have most things covered. Just have to find someone who can steer her now!
