Another newbie

I'm a little premature in that we only have an accepted offer on a Ed Monk designed Eagle 34. I am watching it from my office as I type-probably not the best place to try and be objective. I have a question-the ad places this at 13' and doesn't list a height. For purposes of transport these are critical dimensions. Anybody know what these dimensions are? Thanks

For truck transport. Trucker came back to me with a height of 15' which makes the transport prohibitively expensive but I don't know what he used for this estimate. And of course the 13' beam also bumps the transport up to necessitating two pilot cars.

Ht may be the problem - when I had my 34 Mainship trawler transported Tx - NY the transporter said 13 ft ht was one cut-off (I was at/under that) 14ft beam wasn't a problem and only req'd 1 escort - at least for that route.
Guessing yours is the one listed in CA? Consider floating it?

From where and to where are you trying to move the boat?

Moss Landing, CA to Sequim or Port Angeles, WA. Always would consider doing it myself but with other things going on in life we are in a bit of a time crunch. Not exactly the prime time of the year to be making a trip against the upwelling winds and prevailing swell in a relatively small unproven (to me) boat.

Well, I do offer one alternative thought. Is it necessary to move it all the way at one time? I don't know how much you've cruised between the two points but could be your weekends and vacations for months.

One thing that amazed us when in the PNW was the number of boaters there who had never gone beyond the Strait of Juan de Fuca. A lot to see on the way.

Trucking wise, I would talk to one of the carriers but I think it should be made simpler by the fact you're only dealing with three states and major highways.

thanks for the input. Once we get to the haulout I will have solid numbers on the beam and overall height and I can contact other truckers.
