2016 World Arc Returns to St. Lucia (sailboats)
For an hour and a half today we watched the parade of sailboats finishing their circumnavigation. This is the returning 2016 fleet which we cheered off in January 2016. By coincidence the lead boat in the picture was docked with us 15 months ago before they and the rest of the fleet started their trip.
Of interest only four catamarans in the fleet, whereas in the Eastern Caribbean more than half of the newer boats are cats. The majority of boats were non-American / Canadian. The lead boat in the photo is an American boat so it is not surprising she is docked near us as the docks are segregated by electrical requirements.
Also of interest is that circumnavigation appears to be a younger man's game as the crews appeared 20 years younger than the typical retired cruisers in the Eastern Caribbean.
