For Lack of a Kill Cord on an OB

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

A sad story/blog of a good Samaritan/cruiser who got hurt because someone wasn't using a kill cord. It starts 1/2 way down the page.

And a horrific reminder to all to please please please use a kill switch on a dinghy or tender. By use I don't mean just have one. Use it always. They are lightweight vessels in a big boat's world and not at all uncommon to hear of people being tossed from them.

We can't control what other people do and web forums such as this one reach a very small fraction of boaters. In many parts of the world, boater education is not required to operate a boat and where it is, it's usually very basic. From my marina I can see a public boat landing and stupid, dangerous stuff is the norm.

The guy in this story should be commended for his efforts.
