Bumped into this by accident.

The burned boat appears to be a Sealine T47

Twin Cummins, so it wasn't a gasoline fire.

If the few details in that article represent the true time line, it would appear the boat caught fire, the crew got off, THEN the police/fire boat filled it with water until it sank.


It's not even clear to me there were actual flames. Usually the GRP will catch and the boat will burn to the waterline. All I saw in that one still image was smoke or steam. Curious.
