Greetings,
One can argue, draw graphs, cite statistics, point finger and wave dicks but it's VERY, VERY, VERY simple...Follow the $$.

Hey, hey, hey-wait just a minute --- I wasn't WAVING anything.....

:D

RT, that waving I did may have been impressive but it certainly wasn’t a (or my) dick.

Don’t forget this “climate emergency” is a new religion and it needn’t make any sense, “faith.”

The proposal is laughable...and dangerous. The sheep in western Washington follow the most radical “ideas” that are proposed. This area is literally crazy.

The bigger the government the smaller the citizen.

Below will be of concern for your dirt homes in the city of Bellingham. This cant be good for affordable housing.

The city of Bellingham’s Climate Task Force recommendations to city hall bring a fleet of people into your home while enriching Solar PV contractors, construction trades , roofer, carpenter, electricians, plumbers and gas heating contractors to reach 100% renewables by 2030 or 2040.

Some older homes have small electrical services providing energy to appliances that are natural gas. When or if the City of Bellingham requires a change to all electric appliances the cost to the property owners will be a serious economic financial stress without a reasonable economic return to individuals living in the City of Bellingham.

At a time when people are struggling with Healthcare ,proper nutrition, & affordable housing and taxes. These recommendations will economically hamstring low income individuals and families with or with out low interest loans. Burden property owners and buyers at purchase or sale.

In older homes without 200a electrical service the expenses could be cost as viewed below:

Furnace electrician 240 Volts 50Amp $1,200.

Altered or new electrical service 200Amp $600. Up to $2,800. Or more

Solar PV installation @ 50% rooftop coverage $1,000. To $35,000. Or more

Purchase of electrical appliances (see below)

Hot Water heater electric heat pump style. $1,300. Up above $1,800.
Dryer $400.
Range $450.
Furnace $4,000. Or more without electrical installation of all electrical
Elect Heat pump $4,500 to 12,000. or more

It was verbalized in the Climate Action Task Force Meeting on 10/16/19 a mechanism be put in place to restrict a land lords from passing any of the expense onto the renter.

Commercial properties are not excluded from the purposed recommendations

Burlington Vermont is run on 100% renewable energy.

Burlington Electric has been 100% renewable for 10 years and hasn't raised rates. Wood burning represents 30% of Burlington’s power grid, and 20% comes from solar panels and wind turbines. In 2014, when Burlington opened a hydro plant, that took over the remaining 50% of the city’s power grid.

With the timber and hydro resources the region has couldn't Bellingham do something similar?

Surely in this day and age some (non-biased) consultants or qualified City staff can provide Council with the needed "cost/benefit" analysis on this and will realize the folly of such drastic action. How is one City doing something this costly to it's taxpayers going to have ANY real impact on the Global situation when by just numbers alone, China and India are the major contributors to the Global problem, to say nothing of the info I discussed in my earlier post about the pole moving and the potential impact on weather and climate???
When I purchased my current home, it had an electric heat pump and backup furnace. At approximately 7 years old, it packed it in. Total loss. The manufacturer would not "honour" the advertised 10 year warranty because the builder did not "register it". By serial number they would know how old the pump was. My next door neighbour, who has a natural gas furnace (with most other things being equal) had total electric and gas bills that were half what I was paying. After the "lack of warranty" I installed a gas furnace and my bills have dropped to basically match my neighbours! Depending on how the electricity is generated and how far it has to be transmitted, and on the fact that to obtain the same results you spend far more in bills, would this really be a "win"???:banghead:
I do my best to minimize my impact such as recycle, never throw garbage away except in approved recepticles, only own one small (gas) relatively fuel efficient car, use biodegradeable cleaning products (95%), etc. I think what we need is some "sober second thought" on expensive, drastic actions that will produce minimal to no Global impact!

The government here (over 30 yrs of Demosocialist rule) wants to remove the hydro dams completely. They are also vehemently, anti- logging. They want people cold and in the dark. Living in boxes in the cities, like the former Soviet Union. Riding trains, bikes and scooters everywhere. Except themselves, of course. Again, I’m not exaggerating.
