Cruising off the coast of Mexico

Has anyone used a guide, consultant, or other type of personnel to make the passage all along the coast of Mexico safer and easier. In particular, for finding marinas, food, fuel, supplies, immigration/customs, etc.
I understand that finding and hiring an agent for passage through the Pannama Canal is a good idea. How about the same kind of person(s) for services going along the coast of Mexico, without any intentions of staying.

Which coast, Pacific? There are plenty of captains / deckhands that can be hired, but you can learn all you need to know by reading on line, especially for Baja, since there are so few ports.

Join the Panama Posse, all the info and help you will need. You’ll recoup the fee at first Marina. Worked extremely well for us last year.

Looks like you are in Mass. So I assume East coast. Really not a lot of ports on that side. Clear into Isla Mujures. They do have agents there and fuel and provisions etc. You can have fun there for a few months and access mainland for excursions easily. You can day trip to Cozumel or Puerto Morales which really doesn't want you. But really hard to clear out further South. So pretty much a run to Belize or Honduras. Not a lot going on otherwise to facilitate a trip south to return north to clear out.
