I will be replacing the factory installed windlass (1997) Lewmar Concept 1 as soon as I can decide on one for my needs.
I have a 1997/350 Mainship trawler. New to me for a year now. Manual claims 24,000lbs weight. I'm assuming factory empty weight. She has a pretty high wind profile as well.
The current windlass gets pretty warm pulling up the anchor and rode at shallow 40ft anchorages.
At the time she was equipped with 14ft of 5/16 ht chain and 5/8' Three strand rope. Anchor was 20h Danforth.
I have replaced the current setup with 100ft of 5/16"HT chain, and 300ft of 5/8" Three strand New England rope anchor line. Anchor is a 44lb genuine Bruce.
Has anyone on this forum used the 46'Freefall from Powerwinch?
I had the 30'Freefall on my 30ft Californian for the 16 years That I owned her and It was flawless.
I like the free fall feature since I regularly anchor at 100ft when I fish.
Thanks for your suggestions.
