I have a lewmar V4 vertical windless. I could not find this in the owners manual .what oil is required in the gearbox and how is it checked?

Look for a site glass.
Gear box should be 90 wt oil

I just finished taking my Maxwell apart and re installing. Gear oil was 90wt
If there is no site glass look for an over flow bolt. You would remove it and fill till it overflows.
A little over 1/2 of the compartments volume
