Currently I have 2 UHF radios 1VHF 1 mobile phone on Optus one on Telstra and 95% of the time all are useless in my area .

Question is whats the solution for radio communication in the Pittwater Berowra region when the typical land form is like this

is a sat phone the answer ? seems it would be a overkill or am I wrong

The deep fjord like valleys are the problem. For our week long Club cruise of the Broken Bay/Pittwater/Hawkesbury River system, we found VHF best to talk boat to boat. Neither Optus or Telstra work well, but surprisingly Vodafone was reasonably good for phone and data. I almost never get signal on Optus, it seems to have got worse over time.

Hi Gaston,

Agree with BruceK , outside world communications are non existent in the Hawksbury area, especially in all the best anchorages. In refuge and Americas bays the signal comes and goes on Telstra, emails eventually come and go , but phone conversations are not possible.

Cheers Chris D Liberty

Sounds like heaven.
