I am installing a Garmin GP 10 rudder feedback sensor on my Hershine 37. The tiller faces astern so I am positioning the sensor parallel also facing astern.

I have seen installations that attach a plate facing forward and place the sensor parallel facing forward.

My question is is it possible to configure the software in the Garmin MFD to accept either setup?

I was on hold with Garmin for too long and hung up. Not in the manual. Thanks.

The Garmin won’t know the difference. When you initialize it, you will confirm direction. (Or it I’ll only care about the amount of movement) the important part is that the Sensor and the rudder are mounted so that they are parallel and that the pivot points are lined up. Also, the arm connecting the sensor to the rudder arm should be exactly at 90 degrees to both arms when the rudder is amidships.
