Plb registration

Has anyone tried to change the registration for a PLB from aviation use to marine use?

I have a personal 406MHz device (not the one installed in the aircraft) which I retained when I recently sold my last airplane.

When I sign into the NOAA registration site, it lets me edit the information, but assumes I am changing airplanes, rather than modes of transportation. The site actually lets me fake the entries sufficiently to make it clear that there is a vessel involved, rather than an airplane, but that is only an expedient until I can do "the right thing." Anyone confronted this issue?

I did one that had been previously registered to an airplane. I had to call NOAA and the person I spoke to released it, so to speak, so that I could get it registered.

It may, the one I did was over 10 years ago so email may now be the way to go. Good luck.
