I am using OpenCPN Nav program On a PC running Windows 10.
Recently I installed a Vesper 8000 AIS. The unit comes with an external GPS.
So I decided to get rid of my USB connected GPS puck and use the Vesper GPS, which connects via WiFi.
So I connected via WiFi to the Vesper using the settings recommended on the Vesper site (and a little help from TF).
But no GPS connection. Turns out it is not enough to uncheck the “enable” box on the old GPS connection. You have to delete the connection.
So after you have added the Vesper in “Settings” “connections,” by clicking on “Add Connections,” scroll up to your previous connection and highlight it.
Below the solid line will be an option to “Remove Connection”
Removing the old connection (even though it is not enabled) lets the program look for the GPS in the right place.
