No transformer inverter/charger
Just came out:
Inverter Charger | Freedom XC PRO Inverter/Charger | Xantrex
video:
I've seen only one price so far: MSRP $1750 something.

Size and Bluetooth panel make it interesting. It does not do power supplementing. Will be interest to see the customer satisfaction surveys after a few years.

I am on the hook full time, so my only source for AC is my generator. Compensation is not high priority to me, but the price is bit high.

Xantrex is a little late to the party. Mastervolt and Victron have had most of those features for years - decades actually. Maybe another 10 years and they will have caught up, with features like load sharing and low idle power offered by others for years.
It (and the others like it) aren't transformer-less, they use high frequency switching so the magnetic components can be far smaller and lighter. This technology goes back 20 or 30 years.

That’s what I would say. I would no longer recommend Xantrex products, too many failures on units I have installed. Long ago Statpower made arguably the best battery chargers on the market. They merged with Heart interface and with Trace, combined all the products under the Xantrex label, and soon after their quality went steadily downhill. There are much better products available from other manufacturers, at least some for less money.

Trace made the best quality equipment. There are sw2512’s that have been running flawless for 25 years. 25 year old machine and the only improvement the market has made, Bluetooth.
I bought a heart freedom 12 in 1992 and the trace in 2000. Both were great pieces of equipment. Looked at the Xantrex replacements and decided to buy elsewhere.

I installed one of these on my sailboat a couple of years ago. I have been very pleased with it. I don't believe it is for marine use. I have it installed under the chart table. If it gets wet there, I'll have much more to worry about.
