I'm looking for opinions on how to program my pair of Garmin VHF 215 radios. My electronics installer just finished putting in two new Garmin chartplotters, VHF radios and radar. Everything is on a NMEA 2000 network. He setup the chartplotter to feed the radios GPS information. But the radios have their own GPS ability and I'm thinking I should setup the radios independently. That way, they don't need the chartplotters working to send a DSC call. Have any of you made a similar decision or have experience with this? Thank you in advance....
