Any experiences or comments on Garmin's VHF radios? Specifically the VHF-215 model. DSC but Non-AIS. I am upgrading electronics and need two new VHF's to replace my aging iComs. Just not familiar with the Garmin offerings. They will go on a Garmin network with chartplotters if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

We have the VHF215 sans AIS on our boat as a backup to the multi station VHF315. We also have the AIS800 Blackbox. The VHF215 is off the AIS800 box and antenna.

When you connect them to NMEA2000 they integrate with the plotters for DSC calling as well as Emergency distress.

They are great radios and have no complaints. Would recommend if you have Garmin kit on the boat already.
