I am in my 3rd season of boating in the Netherlands and Belgium and expect to enter France for the first time next week. I have used the Dutch electronic ANWB maps and otherwise have mostly used paper maps to find my way around. I am curious to know if Forum members have experience with other sorts of electronic navigation aid that are are in English, compatible with a Surface Pro tablet and are relatively simple to operate. I am from a generation that still finds computer use challenging so need very simple installation and operation procedures.

Two people come to mind, although I’m sure there are many locals who could help. Richard Bost on Dauntless is on the forum. Also James Hamilton, Dirona, has just recently left the Netherlands and he’s quite familiar with all sorts of electronic navigation options.

Why do you need electronics ?
Choose your route and buy Navicarte or Editions Du Briel.
They have far more info than electronics.
