battery question

Man...this thread just took battery management back 3 decades.

The size and capacity of the starting battery should be whatever the engine manufacturer recommends. There's no real harm in making it a little more powerful but there's little to gain.

The size and capacity of the house bank is a different story altogether. Obviously, install at least what you need but it's hard to have too much capacity in a house bank.

Ya, if you have unlimited budget, buy as much and then more than you need. A half dozen powerwalls is really the minimum. Infinite KW hours preferably.

And if your engine manufacturer actually publishes a recommended battery spec. You're all set!

Yep, ours does. Easy look-up. Starter label also has specs, another easy look-up.

In our case, a pair of G31s is sufficient. The PC-2150s Odyssey sells offer even higher CCAs/MCAs than many.

Also in our case, that could be one pair per engine... or one single battery for each engine, combined through the parallel switch. I like the redundancy of one pair per engine, though.

Anyway, No 8Ds required.
