I'm planning to buy a cheap domestic 120v chest freezer in either 5 or 7 cu ft.

1)Does anybody have experience running one of these off a 1000w inverter -- is it enough for compressor startup?
2)Also, curious to estimated daily amp draw in florida heat?
3) For 5 vs 7 cu ft, do you think they actually step up the compressor size, or use exact same compressor in both?

Comparing the Energy Star yearly KWH, they say the 7 uses about 17% more energy (for 30% more space). Not sure if that's due to larger compressor, or same size compressor running more...

I have a Wynter and Engel.

Both are 120/12.

Wynter has two compartments, can go to around -10 in both. Engel just a reostat.

Each will run off a 1000watt inverter, but love 12vdc. They can run off a car battery for about three days in Key West.
