Where can I buy a new one of these?

Anyone by chance know where I could purchase a new pull cord thingee for the steps on the stern of my 41' Mainship Mediterranean?

What is this even called?

It allows you to pull up the steps to the swim platform, while standing in the cockpit.

Visually that looks similar, but what I need to replace is actually a wire (braided and then surrounded by white insulation), not a rope.

If it is stainless wire encased in a white coating maybe you could just replace the cable with https://www.westmarine.com/buy/alps-wire-rope--7-x-7-vinyl-covered-lifeline--P012046835?recordNum=2. This is commonly used as sailboat lifeline cable available in different sizes.........

Unfortunately not, the cable is permanently encased in the handle and runs into a permanent joint fitting that latches onto the steps. It can't be removed from the handle without destroying it. And its already broken off the permanent encasement on the steps side.

I would unbolt it from the stairs and take it to a rigger. They can make you a new one with a handle.
