I have a 2004 Volvo D4 210 HP with 1100 hours. Two months ago while headed north on the ICW the engine started running rough and I got an alarm for #4 injector communications lost. Two different Volvo Penta dealers have between them replaced the injector and checked everything including reconnecting cables that appeared to be loose, gotten factory troubleshooting help, tested the boat and it runs fine...for several hours then it comes right back. It's been two months, and $4000 and I'm down again for the third time, still in transit. Has anyone ever experienced an issue like this that finally got resolved?

The alarm for the injector may actually be a signal for something outside the engine. Perhaps low fuel volume delivery or low pressure. The fact that the problen dosn't arise until some time has past is another hint as to what's wrong. And another hint that something outside the engine is at fault is that the Volvo techs have investigated the engine. I'd look eleswhere.
