PSS has been around for decades. Boatyard well familiar with the device. Prior owner never touched it. It was seized to the shaft.

Cooling water issue maybe why many nordies have stuffing boxes.
 
No stuffing box on this "nordie". Raw water hose to the PSS carbon stator comes from a T on the trans cooler.

Not familiar with Nordhavns newer than 2005, but the stuffing boxes were always very accessible and easily serviced. In my opinion, dripless make the most sense where access is poor or owner chooses not to be involved with routine maintenance. When accessible, stuffing boxes are one of the easiest maintenance items on a boat. Sometimes old school makes sense
