Spring Projects 2020

Late last year I bought myself a CNC milling machine and have used it to complete several boat projects. Thought I would post some info here just in case anyone was looking for some inspiration.

(1) Flagpole with integrated LED stern light. So it would clear my dinghy when it was on the davits.

(2) Steaming and Anchor Light Mast. I needed to replace my steaming light, and already had the LED anchor light - these were integrated into a stainless mast using machined components.

(3) Upper Helm Instrument Panel. This has been on my to-do list for many years, and I finally got around to it. The lower helm was done a few years back. I ripped out the old wood instrument panel and installed the new panel shown, also got the old Morse controls rechromed and rebuilt.

(4) Lower helm overhead panels. These panels were a bit ugly. When I bought the boat it had all the original electronics up there, which left huge holes. I installed my new equipment but used blanking plates rather than doing a complete refinish. This winter I got tired of the ugly look and decided to give it a complete refresh, including moving some of the more useful functions to a bank of switches. Also installed a new battery monitor and stereo.

I have a few more small projects to do but the boat is fully operational at this point.
