There's been plenty of discussions on running gear anti-fouling coatings such as propspeed, coppercoat, barnacle barrier, etc. but I rarely see discussions involving the use of a bottom paint over a primer paint. I am considering using my trusted Trinidad bottom paint over a product I found today called Pettit underwater metal kit 6456 for all my running gear and tabs. The kit supposedly will increase the bond between the metal and top coat paint to eliminate the paint from wearing off.

Anyone used this product with success or failure?

I used that system for years. The AF paint will stick fine, but metal work was still a barnacle mess in 12 months in my hot salt water canal 60 miles south of you.

The primer won't stop wear. It increases adhesion.
