Hi all,
My 6.0MDJB Onan generator raw water pump seized and I cannot find replacement parts.
I have a Fynspray 1/2 pump lying around which is good for around 10 gpm. The minimum flow for the generator states 3.8 gpm.
Can you have too much flow and will the Fynspray pump do the job.
If not can anyone suggest a replacement pump.

All marine gensets which I have seen run pretty cool. The water out of my three cyl Yanmar is cool to the touch at the exhaust. Yet, the engine comes up to temp. Remember that the raw water does not actually cool the engine. It cools the water (antifreeze) which cools the engine. Your engine has a thermostat on it. It will close until the engine temp gets where it is supposed to be.

The raw water cools, mostly , the exhaust system.

I don't see a problem using the larger volume pump.

Yes you should be able to use the larger pump, assuming it’s a centrifugal pump. If too much output is a problem you can add a valve on the pump outlet to throttle the flow.

I agree! Call DEPCO. Just went through the same exact issue. No pump "Worldwide!" Depco had 15 in stock received it 2 days after I ordered it.

Seems a widespread problem with Onan. The seller`s mechanic for a boat with a much later EQD could not source a replacement rw pump in Australia.

I emailed Depco and they were extremely helpful. They advised the right pump. Just checked the exchange rate so I might just monitor it for another week or so.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
