I know this group knows…
There are some flat head machine screws on board, that have a plain head, that is, not designed for a driver. Any idea what these are called, so i can do a supplier search?
If you are wondering, the heads are visible on the seats of chairs. So, a perfectly flat, bur-less install.

Ring nails?

M5 machines screws with lock nuts

I have never seen such a thing.

I need a French equivalent of a mc master carr.
Flat head. Totally featureless.

What’s on the other side? If there were nuts wouldn’t they be in the seating area and at least uncomfortable? Perhaps they are rivets, and not intended to be removed.
This is edited: I just saw the other photo, I’m guessing that the head of the fastener is on the butt-side of the seat. Why not remove the nuts and find out. Without a means to hold the head it might turn but an impact will help.

Is it splined ( for maybe 1/4") where the splines bite the wood and tightening the nut pulls everything tight?

Ted

Not splined. Very conventional fully threaded. Conventional head also, except no feature to take a driver.

Elevator bolt? I see Bacchus beat me to it.
