Johnson Ultima switch fail

We go to our boat last week to find the forward Johnson bilge pump which has a Johnson ultima switch running dry. I replaced the bilge pump and changed to a ultra mini switch after finding that the Johnson ultima switch had failed closed.
A similar scenario with a running bilge pump in an indoor stored boat cost our neighbors their boat, the shop and the shop contents after a dry running bilge pump started a fire. So beware.
