Ideas For In-Counter Appliances And Decorative Fixtures?

I'm restoring the original bar countertop on my Bayliner 3888. That block of wood that you see in the picture is where the original Nutone blender would have been, before a previous owner removed it and slapped some tiles over it.

I could seek out an original Nutone, or a modern replacement, but I actually have no use for a blender up there. I don't even drink, I just like the asthetics of having a bar. I'd like to add something cool that will class up that corner.

I'm tempted to get one of these carbonators in brass:

https://www.amazon.ca/Aarke-Carbonat...8-7&th=1&psc=1

It might look cool, but it's not exactly meant for this application, so I'd have to make damn sure it was solidly anchored. May not be worth the trouble.

Alternative could be some sort of wooden tray or something to hold loose objects, but beyond that I'm not sure. Anyone have a suggestion?

Are you replacing the countertop or just working with the one that is there? If you are replacing it then I wouldn’t put any incounter items in. If you are sticking with the current countertop then I don’t have any ideas. Our Formula has a blender builtin the countertop and I wish it wasn’t there. We don’t really drink so we have no use for it. I much prefer the counter clear and clean.

I've toyed with the idea of resurfacing that bar, but it's not worthwhile at this point in time. Once I resurface the galley counter I may revisit it, but the factory black speckled laminate looks OK.

I put in Corian counters in our last boat. It had fairly tall fiddles around the counters. So I made a template with strips of luan plywood hot glued together. Transferred that pattern to a sheet of 1/4” plywood. Then clamped it to the Corian and used a patterning bit in a router to cut the Corian. Then used silicone dabs to glue the Corian down on top of the high pressure laminate countertop. Worked great and was very easy. Got the Corian from an internet store in Tucson. Most places will not sell solid surface materials if you are not a professional woodworker.

I hadn't thought of using plywood strips to make the template. May use that trick when the time comes. I'm actually going to do a stainless steel countertop in the galley, there's a local shop that can cut it to spec for me.

Yes, I cut it into about 2” strips an used a hot glue gun to stick them together. Easy.

Granite guys hot glue yard sticks for their pattern. I used that for cutting our carpet. Fit so tight it is hard to get out.

Put a coffee maker or Expresso machine there.

Greetings,
Mr. S. Glue a sheet of SS over the counter? Would cover both the rectangular and round holes. Have a professional match, cut and fit a rectangular plug in granite?

For easy templates you may want to consider these strips - saw them from a couple of countertops guys on YouTube when brainstorming our project.

We used them to make a template for new galley laminate which was replaced over the existing laminate countertops. Very easy to glue together with acetone, mark and trim.

I replaced the 3 burner princess electric stove with the drop in induction cook top and added a larger sink.
