Too bad I didn't see this thread earlier. Three years ago my Par Maxx 4 was behaving similarly. I carry a spare. Replaced pump and voila, no more chattering. Naturally, I bought a new spare for what I consider a throw away item.
If I'd had the time, I would have torn down old unit and started replacing the wear parts and got it working (for a while anyway) for about 1/2 the price as new. Which reminds me, time to buy a replacement macerator discharge pump as my previous replacement went on 2 years ago. The joys of boating.
