We’ve grown tired of listing at our slip. We’ve also grown lazy.

I’ve opined elsewhere in these pages that it would be desirable to be able to pump potable water (or diesel fuel) from side to side to trim the boat. Prevailing wind over our slip tends to heel the boat to starboard. Closing the crossovers is of course done late...like closing the barn door.

Such a pump would be most desirable if simply operating a toggle switch from ‘towards port - off - towards starboard’ was all that needed to be done, and the pump should not pass water when not running. Easy-peasy!

Anybody have one? What is it? I could obviously make something that would do this but it would more likely not work at the flip of a switch!

I think a ballast pump is what you are looking for. They are 12V 2-way positive displacement impeller pumps (similar to your raw water impeller pump). No valves required for switching.
