Hi Everyone:

We are chasing a water leak in the system, but we are having great difficult tracking/locating where the water lines are located. We've opened every hatch, and tried to follow the lines where we can, but we cannot develop pressure. We've checked the pump, and it is functioning. Does anyone know where the plans/blueprints for the Thompson 44 Trawler Yacht might be located? We've googled, and all we can locate is a Thompson boat builder in Wisconsin. Any help is appreciated.

Good luck on that. Thompson Yachts were built in Titusville FL and went belly up many years ago. I believe they went by the name Nelson later but that too is long gone. Many Thompson boats were sold as a hull where the buyer finished the boat. Don't think you will find plans/blueprints for it. You might want to PM skipperdarrell who has a Thompson 44 finished at the factory but he hasn't posted here in a long time. Here is a link to his blog site:

On older boats with questionable water systems fixing leaks can be a challenge. What type of "pipe" was originally installed?

A complete re- plumb job is not uncommon. Start with bypassing the hidden leaking sections first, working out to the easiest to get at last.

Questions on "functioning" pump and developing pressure. Did you only check that it turns off and on? Did you disassemble and check the impeller? Is impeller intack? Is impeller turning on the shaft?

First question:

Is the bilge pump coming on when the fresh water pump is running? If it's not, probably not a leak in the plumbing. If it is, follow the water going into the bilge, back to its source.
