7/16/19 What Out Board/Boat Accessory “Spare/Back Up” parts should I purchase as to the stay for 3 months at Man O War, Abaco as well as the “passage” across to the Abacos?

Any idea, what is “best means” to make Out Board inoperable as to deterring theft when left at mooring?
 
Assuming a 4 stroke:
2 engine oil changes including filter
2 lower unit oil changes
Spark plugs 1 set
Complete water pump kit
2 water pump impellers
One set of all anodes
Depending on your skill level, a spare propeller :rolleyes:

Tools to install all of the above.

Anti theft ideas:
Take the dinghy with you
Pull it out of the water every night
Remove the fuel hose and or gas tank if you're going to really leave it on a mooring
Make sure it's covered on your insurance if leaving it on a mooring. :thumb:

You're really going to leave it on a mooring? :eek: :confused:

I think that long list of spares above is really overkill. The OP needs emergency spares, not stuff for routine maintenance. For most of those parts to be installed you will have to haul the boat. So let the yard get the parts. If its a Yamaha they probably will have them in stock.

Disconnect the fuel line below decks at the tank and the battery. Most thieves will zero in on the easy target and if they can't immediately start it, they will move on.

Not counting the engine oil, the rest would fit in a milk crate. How many days do you want to wait for backordered parts? As they're all normal service items that you will eventually need, it's not like you won't use them at some point.

Definition of cruising is boat repair in exotic or remote locations.

I carry everything on OC Divers list in the mothership for the dinghy outboard. You'll need all those parts eventually for servicing so why not have it on hand? For breakdowns afar.
 
If it is fuel injected don’t forget the fuel filters on the engine plus any seals required to change them. And a prop cotter pin if it has them.
 
IN thin water a couple of spare props and a bag of sheer pins might be useful.
 
As a theft deterrent, depending on the type of engine and accessibility, I like to unplug the 12V power to the ignition coil and plug a fake wire tucked into the harness in it's place so it's not obvious that it's unplugged.

This is a good list ...something like we would carry - plus spare plugs and gaskets for the oil change and outdrive plugs. On engine and upline fuel filters with wrench, all spare fuses and links.
 
When you say "mooring" do you mean in a slip?
