Nicro Solar vents mounted vertical?

Has anyone installed a Nicro Solar vent on a vertical surface? Are they still water resistant? I'm considering mounting one in a sliding window on the side of my boat in the salon.

According to Nicro they can be mounted vertical. Has anyone tried this?
