Leaking Shaft Seal - Wagner 701 Helm Pump

I replaced the shaft seal on my Wagner 701 helm pump. However, it is still leaking.

Is the next step to replace the pump?

Inspect the shaft. Sometimes shafts will develop small pits that allow leaks and will damage the new seal. There is a sleeve available at a better bearing supply that slide over the shaft to create a new surface.

What Lepke is indicating is often referred to as a SPEEDI SLEEVE.
Fairly common.
