I am considering installed an access port to the top of my holding tank for inspection and cleaning. I have a deck plate panel about 6” in diameter that seals tightly. Has anyone done this before.

Is the deck plate panel one with a threaded cap that threads into flange? If not, that's the kind you need--an inspection port, not a deck plate.

The "kit" should include a flat rubber gasket and an o-ring. The gasket goes under the flange to seal it to the tank and is secured to the top of the tank using screws--NO sealant needed! The o-ring seals the threaded cap.

Thanks Peggy. That is the type I have.
By the way, I have your book and refer to it often. Was there anything in it that I missed concerning this subject?
