Hi all,
My boat's main entry door is 1" thick and I'm having trouble finding a replacement key-lockable knob/latch. Options for thin doors seem few.
The most critical dimensions are:
-- The door is 1" thick
-- The center line of the lock is 1-3/4" from the door's edge.
-- The door opens outward and, from the outside, the hinges are on the right and lock on the left.
Other far less critical details:
-- The present faceplates are 1-1/4" wide by 4-1/2" tall (inside and outside are the same.
-- The screw holes are 3-5/8" apart and center-line.
-- The hole for the knob and the hole for the lock are 2-1/4" apart and center-line.
-- The bolt hole from the edge in is 5/8"
Pictures are attached.
Can anyone suggest a replacement that will cover the old holes, give me an exterior key lock, and look appropriate for a trawler?
My backup plan, which I'd really like to avoid for cosmetic reasons is to fill the old large holes (lock and knob) with dowels, putty fill the old screw holes, refinish, and install cosmetic door knobs on both sides, continue using the barrel bolt on the inside, and add a padlock on the outside. (Right now I lock up when I leave via the aft door).
Many thanks!
