Adding water to Jabsco 37010 Toilet Bowl

We have a Jabsco Electric head and I wanted to see if there is a way to add water to the bowl before using the restroom. Currently we pour water from a jug into the bowl but I wasn't sure if maybe there is an adapter that you can flick on/off to stop water from draining out of the bowl when pushing the flush button?

The Jabsco 37010 is a sea water toilet that has two impellers--one that pulls in flush water and one that pulls waste --or water--out of the bowl. It has an "integral" pump that does both simultaneously....which means it's not designed to bring water into the bowl and hold it unless you install an optional 3-way flush rocker switch (water in only, flush only, water in and flush out simultaneously).



But there can be another problem if you keep the inlet thru-hull closed and ONLY add water to the bowl: without water going through it, dry friction heat "fries" the intake impeller.

It's ok to add water to the bowl manually ahead of use--that's just additional flush water. But there are people who decide to solve the sea water odor problem by keeping the intake seacock closed and only adding water to the bowl manually, either with the shower head or a cup. That's a very bad idea because flushing the 37010--any sea water toilet that has an "integral" pump/motor assembly--activates both the intake and discharge impellers which means the intake impeller runs dry. That "fries" it...wearing away the edges of the vanes till the impeller just spins, no longer able to pull in water or push it to the bowl or BLOCK water from just flowing through the intake line into the toilet bowl if the thru-hull is opened.



Just sayin' in case this thread might have given any of you the idea try it.
