Hey folks,

I have searched and could not find any info on replacing wall paper on a trawler. The boat under consideration has "original" 28 year old wall paper. ugh! It looks 28 years old. Anyone have any tips for successful removing/replacing wallpaper in the closets and heads?

Even failure stories would be helpful!

Thanks

Many places like ACE hardware will rent a wall paper removal steamer.

These are easy to use and do work.

PIA for so few sq ft as on most boats , but,,,,,,

Newer replacement paper comes in both washable and easily paintable .

IF the existing paper has NO damage , just a good scrub with TSP (house hold dish washing machine soap) and it would not need to be removed.

Maybe I misspoke. Any tips to remove the old wallpaper? OR just normal elbow grease?

I figure I can paint the interior area then? Like the bathrooms and closets.

Greetings,
Mr. O. A steamer has been suggested but if your WP has been applied over a veneered paneling, use of a steamer may separate the layers and make more of a mess.

Paintable Wall Paper

The PO used a textured paintable wall paper, looks like textured plaster...looks great and lightened up the whole interior with a light almond.
