We are looking into replacing our 20 gallon tank.
I am thinking about replacing out rusting unit with one of these.

We do like a hot shower in the PNW winters..

Thoughts?

I have replaced my old 20g tank with a new 30g. They do exist, with a single 2000w heating element. A second element can be added later. It is not much larger than the 20g and gives you longer showers. I bought it from the same store as the one you quoted, but the 30g version was only available online.

Remember, one can replace the electrical heating elements. Of course one should investigate the sludge level in the tank prior to making a decision.

Hmmm? How do you evaluate the "sludge" level. Good topic. I think my GB 36 has a Raritan of about 11 gallons or so, and may be as old as my boat. 1982.

Of course if you have a set up to heat the HW from the main engine too, that negates the formula unless you can isolate the the main engine from water heater.
