I thought that too. With the registration numbers still on it they can probably find the last owner.

My guess is the garbage truck driver won't dump it. Most dumpster contracts have specific limitations such as weight (you can't fill one with cinder blocks), hazardous materials and it must be inside the dumpster. Debris on top or sticking above the sides is a judgment call of the truck operator.

Maybe it was a joke? Someone didn't just toss the boat in the dumpster, it would take equipment to get in in there. Stage it, take the pic, post on the internet. See how many swallow the bait.

This is staged, but with far larger dumpsters and with the boats broken into pieces, many boats are removed in dumpsters.
