I posted a thread about a month ago. It was a plea for help. I have a Ranger Tug 27 now and was considering trading up to a Nordic Tug 32. I was explaining how I must have an addiction! Well, thanks to all the comments and suggestions, we are looking at Nordic Tugs 37 ft!! Holy Moly! What am I gonna do now? Now, it will cost me my boat PLUS 100K! I guess I have to get a second job? They are sweat boats!

Yes, it is a disease. We hope to trade our NT 32/34 up to a 37/39 in the next five years. You really need to spend some time on both boats to appreciate the extra size, given that in pictures (particularly the pilot house and saloon) they look almost identical. My favorite feature of the 37/39 is the larger cockpit and overhang. The overhang gives some protection from the elements and a great place to store the dinghy. We keep our dinghy on the swim platform now and it sometimes is a pain becuase we need to put it in the water to use the platform even if we don't plan to use the dinghy. Yes, Conrad, but since Chester tends to go for 10 ft. increments, the 49 would probably be more appropriate. Have you seen the 54 yet?

No way! The 54 is in the millions used! There are limits I will not go. (basically, I can't afford it) It's bad enough that I'm getting real close to $300K for a 10 yr. old boat. But, dam, it sure is nice! It seems to me, as soon as you buy a boat, your looking at the next boat.

We're in the same boat (pun intended). We were perfectly happy with our Camano Troll. It was going to be our last boat. Until a Mainship 430 came along at a price we couldn't pass on. The Camano is for sale, by the way.

Chester....That may be considered a slight issue but by no means a true addict. That happens when you're debating your needs and boats and end up concluding you must have more than one. Then you've passed to the point of no return.

Pronounced "Marine/Boat Addiction" becomes undeniably/noticeably visual... when:

- Your car nearly always swerves unexpectedly into nearly any marina in sight
- You'd rather look at "boat porn" than do many other items
- You've been aboard so many boats that you could have no hope of counting them all
- You have owned so many boats that during recollection you always miss a few or more
- You are member to more than two forums... and... you lurk into others too

Two steps of being "Grand Fanatical" regarding Boat Addiction:

1. You'd rather be aboard boat than any other place in the world!
2. Aboard-Boat is your preferred location to be situated for your instance of Passing-On!

I confess guilt on all counts! And, Proud of It!!

As for me, well there is no choice to make. I will take being on a boat over Christmas if I could get away with it. Just ask my my second X about that one.

Now then about having more then one boat.......Is not a boat like having tools of the trade. You NEED a boat for different task and again just ask my second X about that. Rotfl

So am I a boat addic, can't say but I do believe the good Lord created a part of me with boats on His mind
Buy a new boat and stop on your way home to look at a used one for sale. It's just the way of life for some of us and to others well it may seem foolish to them but hey who cares, we have OUR BOATS and as long as they make them bigger and wider and taller and so forth, we the true boat people will be right there in the middle of it.

As an addicted boat-luver myself!


The following “Boats – Forever!” is what I included at the end of “TOLLY LIFE - AGELESS DESIGN”, a poem I wrote for Mr. Robert Merland Tollefson in 2009 for his ninety eighth year. I supplied bound copies for both he and his right hand man, a good friend and employee of his, Gordon who was for decades Tollycraft’s lead purchasing agent, Gordon to this day is still the overseer of Tolly-Classified http://www.tolly-classified.com/partsdir.html Gordon personally delivered to Mr. Tolly his copy of my poem.

Robert Tollefson passed away shortly after his 100 year birthday. Now… There was a man who was very happily addicted to boats! My poem’s researched contents depict portions of Mr. Tolly’s life; even well before his many decades of successful Tollycraft boat building. If anyone would like to read the fairly long poem… PM me your email address… I’ll be glad to send it along. Boats were embedded into in Mr. Tollefson’s genes… as can be seen throughout my poem, boats and he were tied at the hip. You could say he had boats and boating deeply in the marrow of his bones! That is why he built such good boats and refused to parlay with requests to join business-forces with those who did not hold his standards of boat building and business acumen. Way I see “IT”: Ya either got “IT” or ya don’t. And, I’m very pleased to at least have some portion of “IT” deep inside my bones. Mr. Tolly had “IT” x 100!


Boats – Forever!


Of necessity and for simplicity, floating devices were utilized by humans for transportation purposes long before the wheel was devised.
Via human ingenuity, intelligent boat designs became the natural outcropping.
Of necessity and for pleasure, floating devices that carry all manner of items will continue to be one of the most often used and intricately designed transportation devices.
Of pleasure, “power boating” and “sail boating” will always remain as one of the best recreational devices ever available, bar none!


By design, Tollycraft will always be a renowned name in boats.
