For nearly a year I've had a recurring fast drip on my port shaft log. Every time I tighten her a bit to a normal slow drip, it returns to a fast drip after the next use. I recently pulled the boat to paint the bottom and from the outside, noticed the shaft was sitting low off-center through the log so I raised the engine to a point where the shaft was centered. Amazingly, the correct drip rate has maintained after several outings. Now why didn't I think of that earlier!

How did that affect your alignment? You might have stopped the drip and caused another problem.
