Storms a Comin’

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

There's been a 50 kt blow, give or take, twice a week for the last two months, however, it has only dipped below freezing four nights so far. It's seeming like a rebate for the summer we didn't have.

Snowfall warning just came out for Southern Vancouver Island tomorrow morning (home). Starting in the morning, up to 25 cm of snow follows heavy rain, ends in the afternoon. Should be wet and heavy.

Where’s the “storm’s a -go-in” part?

Hmmm, not too bad. Only 600 crashes.

If Atlanta gets snow, the underlying strata becomes ice because the ground/pavement never gets very cold. Traffic has been known to stop because of the abandoned cars/trucks both on side streets and the interstate. Sometimes this goes on for days. It is one thing to drive on snow but, unexpected underlying ice can be a challenge if you do not expect it and drive slowly.
Heavy snow on the wires... bring the wires down. Someone in their wisdom decided the power polls could be further apart than up north where they get more snow. End result, more wires come down than up north.

In northern Alberta, permafrost area, the logging industry hates more than an inch or two of snow. Makes it difficult to get the logs out of the woods and slows down the transportation of a fully loaded logging truck.
