confirmation. PR stunt by TWC. I was wondering about this. Still, this clause makes me nervous. what would stop an insurance company from hiring a 'meteorological expert' or group there of and naming a 'storm' every time the wind blows a small craft advisory?

I wonder.
I know of some in Staten Island that list those home to Sandy and it was not covered because it was named. But as I recall, it was no longer a tropical cyclone, but was extra-tropical and therefore should not have been considered "named"'

There are distinct differences between contrived land winter storms and named tropical storms. The boating insurance I have is specific to Tropical Cyclones. Not Rocky Mountain wind events.
