Any suggestions- my steering wheel has a rubber coating that is deteriorating!
Other than a leather cover, is there anything I can do:
Paint or replace?
Thanks:)

The wheel is 21 inch diameter. The leather wrap only covers the problem.
A new wheel is over $300.

Might want to think of finishing it in rope. Many nice patterns out there. The ringbolt hitch is one of them.

Greetings,
Mr. L. Knotty videos?

Thanks. Even the youngsters can watch this one.

If the rubber??? is actually deteriorating and falling apart I don't think there is a whole lot you can do. Paint won't stop the deterioration.
The leather wrap might hold it all together if done tightly.
Otherwise I suspect replacement may be the answer.
I used a leather wrap although for different reasons and it looked good and worked well. I used to winter boat, the wheel was SS and it was COLD.
If not too expensive it might be worth a try.

When I retired, my coworkers gave me a leather wheel wrap as a retirement gift. It has been a cherished improvement on a cold stainless steel wheel.
