St. Pete Open

The St. Pete Open is happening at our marina this weekend. We're not used to a couple thousand people being around but it's interesting. It's the worlds largest spear fishing tournament. If I can figure out how to post some photos or videos I will.

Not legal to harvest Goliath grouper anymore. Someone is going to regret that.

Not a made-up story; a good friend (many years ago) was spearfishing a Gulf platform in about 200 ft of water. He shot a big Warsaw...it just went "dead" and was sinking so he slipped his hand (arm really) into the gill plate and headed to the surface. Well, the fish came to, clamped down on his arm and headed straight down...he couldn't get loose. By luck, his buddy saw happening this and shot the beast again which freed Doug's hand. He has the head mounted in his beach house like a trophy buck. I can easily put my own head inside it's open mouth.
