Simple leak detector

A simple way to locate a slow leak of water or oil is using a piece of toilet paper.
Hold the paper against any suspected fitting and if the smallest leak will be quickly apparent.

I usually use the Scot blue paper shop towels. ALways found they show a distinct colour change that stands out the a white towel will not. Especially a liquid like water or a light oil with little to no colour of its own.

That's what I used when I replaced our hydraulic steering cylinder, and it worked like a charm.

Still have strips tied around all the fittings in the lazarette...all it takes is a glance to know everything is a-okay.
