Running Home Before The Storm

So Sonas was on the hard for some work and the yard asked me if I wanted to keep her there during the storm. I had them launch her on Thursday to bring her home where I could keep an eye on her.

On the way back we were able to see on the water preparations from some of the big boys!

Photos taken on cell phone and cropped as I didn't have the main camera with me.

In order:

Leaving Ortega River.

Six Coast Guard units running south towards Green Cove Springs (they did hail me as I was the stand on but I told them I would turn and run down their starboard side. They agreed and adjusted course)

Lots of commercial vessels running upriver St Johns.

Warship tied up at container terminal.

CG Tractor 12 heading up river.

Car Carrier heading out to sea.

Warship Tornado heading up river.

With a strong outgoing we hit over 11 knots on a boat that is rated (based on formula) at 9.75.

Another look at those Coasties as they ran past.

Why do car carriers look like floating fridges? That's about as fugly as one can get.

We're not in the beauty industry. Lots of decks for lots of cargo.

Looked for my boat, don't see it. Not sure where they laid up, but they were at Keystone Term to discharge.
