I was usually using the mobile app for the forum for quite some time and switched back recently toe the web site and noticed that in user profile there is "reputation" flag.
Can a moderator explain what it is and how it is "measured"?
Mine is a black square, does it mean I am a Corsair or Pirate? ?*☠️

A "black flag" for "reputation"?? What have you been doing Lou?

In motor sport a marshal waving a black flag meant you had to stop/retire to the pits for safety reasons, you had been "black flagged".

Worse if it was a red flag,I think.
Can`t wait to hear what it really means.:)

Login & Privacy: set your
'Invisible Mode' - sets whether or not other members can see if you are online and what page you are viewing
'Show Reputation Level' - shows your reputation level on posts if this option is enabled by the administrator
'Allow vCard Download' - sets whether or not to allow other members to download a vCard containing your email address and username.

What is reputation?

Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts.

Reputation may be positive Positive Reputation Icon (Green) , negative Negative Reputation Icon (Red) or neutral Neutral Reputation Icon (Black). Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.

How do I give reputation?

To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice.

How do I know what reputation I have received?

You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown.

How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?

If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.

What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?

You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled.

Reputation is not enabled so all is black.

TF Thanks

I'll give a cursory explanation while we confirm the Details with the TF Admin. One of us will post a response in the Forum 101 Sticky so it is there for others to view / read and we can point any questions in the future to it.

Different Forums use different terminology but on TF we use what is know as "Thanks". Any user can "Give Thanks" to a poster by clicking the Thanks Tab at the bottom of a post.
Any user can also choose to enable or disable display of the level of Thanks they have received in the USER CP - Edit Options - Pic #1 is mine showing enabled and a count of 255.

Pic #2 shows my user profile visible to others with 3 Green boxes in the Top Right

I looked at Lou_Tribal's info and his Black Box indicates he has this feature disabled.

Users with this enabled can see the # boxes and view their actual Thanks count within their User CP - Edit Options

Hope that helps clear things up short term and will post details in the Forum 101 thread ASAP.

Thanks for the post as I thought it was disabled for the site. Had no idea it was just individuals. Out of curiosity, what creates a negative reputation as I sure would have thought I could have earned that by now?

There is only a Thanks button so think you are safe .
There is the Report Post button to report transgressions of TF rules or other issues.

Greetings,
Mr. B and the rest of the sit team...Is it possible to tag the original poster (OP) of a thread throughout the life of the thread? Meaning, for example, in this thread any replies by Mr. Lou_tribal would be labeled Mr. Lou_tribal (OP).

Mr. L_t. Corsair of Quebec????

RTF
Actually the TF App does exactly that but not the website for some reason.
The App has some +/- vs the website so I use both depending on what I am doing.

LOL not that type of Corsair, more Corsair from Saint-Malo in France

Given a choice, post 11 beats the semi Michelin man in 12. Though the marshmallow looks tasty.
Happily, it is established, Lou`s reputation remains unblemished.
The pic in post 11 reminds me that, it seems the wreck Captain Cook`s "Endeavour" as it was called when he visited Australia, has been found (not without some controversy) off USA.Fortunately Australia built a replica from records kept when it became a Navy ship, and it seems exactly the same in dimensions. Oddly, almost as wide as long, which is distinctive.

Yes my reputation is unblemished, I am still the king of fools, still the king (or the fool)
